Matthew Hilton is one of the UKs most successful furniture designers. He graduated with a degree in Furniture Design from Kingston Polytechnic in 1979 and went on to design products for Paul Smith and Joseph Pour La Maison before working at product design company Capa, London. Hilton was appointed a Royal Designer for Industry in 2005 and many of his pieces are now considered modern classics.

He has made a selection of chairs, a dining table, a bench and a bookcase for the Design Show in 2010, in the Artist's House at the New Art Centre, Salisbury. Matthew Hilton's first solo exhibition was at the Geffrye Museum in 2000 and he has work in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Design Museum, London.
