Biography
(1947–)
Born in Sweden, Frie works from the memory of emotions that he felt in a particular place. Instead of painting from life, he wanders around the place, absorbing the atmosphere, infusing it with his own thoughts. Frie's landscapes have a dream-like quality to them, devoid of human life. He has had recent exhibitions throughout Europe including Freiburg, Zurich and Stockholm. In 2002 the New Art Centre's gallery was home to Peter Frie's exhibition Visiting, in which the inspiration was taken from the Wiltshire countryside that surrounds Roche Court.
