David Murphy is a painter and sculptor who lives and works in Lewisham, London. Having graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 2006, he won the Newbury Medal for Fine Art, and has completed residencies at The Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2014) and Fornace Mian (2015). His work is exhibited nationally and internationally.

David Murphy's work was displayed in the exhibition GROUNDWORK at the New Art Centre in 2015. In the same year, he became the youngest recipient to be awarded the Kenneth Armitage Foundation Fellowship (2015-2017).

Murphy has an upcoming solo show at Lyndsey Ingram, London, opening in September 2026. Recent group exhibitions include Surface, Time, Memory, Illusion, atGalerie Isa, Mumbai, Miart 2025, at Cadogan Gallery, Milan, and London Calling at Stephane Simoens, Belgium. Murphy was also featured in the 2026 Drawing Biennial at The Drawing Room, London.
